About the Trash Talk Ocean Project campaign

The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of the rise in litter and trash across Seychelles’ land, beaches and waterways. It uses local voices and opinions, and each of the 13 episodes features a different voice.

It was supported by MCB Seychelles and produced by me, through my production house Samaritan Media, for The Ocean Project Seychelles.

The voices

Episodes feature people from across Seychelles society, among them Patrick Victor, H.E. Caron Röhsler, Mericie Cesar, Keith André, Lisa Laporte, the Au Cap Environment Club, Dillys Pouponneau, Louise Testa, Joshua Adeline, Jose Uranie, Bishop French Chang Him, Lynda Rose and GUNZ. Each short episode works as a stand-alone message, so the campaign could run on TV and be shared online one episode at a time.

What I did

I directed, filmed and edited all 13 episodes. Keeping the same look, pacing and structure across the series makes the episodes recognisable as one campaign, while the different speakers keep each one fresh.

Awareness campaigns on video

Short-form series suit campaigns that need to travel on TV and social media. If you are planning one, see my video editing and DP services in Zurich or browse more of my video projects.

How I make films like Trash Talk

My approach is the same whether the film is a documentary, an advert or a social campaign. I start with what the film has to achieve and who will watch it, plan the shoot around that, film what the story needs and edit it to the point. Because I usually write, direct, film and edit myself, there are fewer hand-offs, the decisions stay consistent from first idea to final file and the client deals with one person. I deliver the formats each channel needs, from broadcast files to vertical cuts for social media.
