About the SeyCCAT coastal wetlands project

Seychelles’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Climate Agreement notes that blue carbon habitats are missing from the country’s national greenhouse gas emissions inventory. Blue carbon habitats are coastal ecosystems such as seagrass meadows and mangroves that store carbon.

The Coastal Wetlands and Climate Change Project, run with the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment and funded by SeyCCAT, gives Seychelles an opportunity to bring seagrass meadows and mangroves into its NDC for both their mitigation and adaptation value.

The client

SeyCCAT, the Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust, commissioned the docu-promo to explain the project and why these habitats matter.

What I did

I directed, filmed and edited the film. A technical subject like blue carbon is a good test for any film: it has to be explained clearly to people who do not work in climate science.

Science and climate communication

If your project needs a short film that makes a technical subject clear, see my video editing and DP services in Zurich or browse more of my video projects.

How I make films like SeyCCAT coastal wetlands

My approach is the same whether the film is a documentary, an advert or a social campaign. I start with what the film has to achieve and who will watch it, plan the shoot around that, film what the story needs and edit it to the point. Because I usually write, direct, film and edit myself, there are fewer hand-offs, the decisions stay consistent from first idea to final file and the client deals with one person. I deliver the formats each channel needs, from broadcast files to vertical cuts for social media.
